For the article. I just purchased a 2007 BMW X3 with 137k miles. I started noticing the windshield fluid has been leaking to the ground and the low windshield fluid indicator came up on dashboard. I couldn’t figure out which of the washer fluid pumps was leaking so I bought two and replaced both of them. The installation was the easy part. However, when I tested front and back pumps no water came out. I then reinstalled the two old pumps to see if the windshield fluid would spray, but this also did not work. As I understand it the i3 had a lot larger depreciation than most other early electric cars. I don remember the research I did at the time tbh and my number was just spitballing, but early electric vehicles had a large depreciation due to the steep annual improvements in the tech, and on top of that, the BMW had even larger depreciation from other early electrics. In addition to that, the new i3s now are in a bit of a different competitive situation, since there is so much more competition in the new electric car space, so my guess is they have to be more competitive on price. I picked up an older Sigma 70 200/2.8 HSM (non OS/VR) for actual shooting. I always at 1/500 or higher so I don really need OS/VR and the 2.8 glass is heavy enough that the image in the viewfinder doesn jump around too much so I went older and cheaper on the lens when I realized the 70 300VR wasn going to cut it. If you can spend a bit more, you can get a newer version with OS and the newer ones should also get better wide open with each generation (there four or five versions of the Sigma 70 200/2.8). One weird quirk of my version is the AF locks up and doesn work in video mode but I never shoot video anyway with it because it too jumpy without VR.

My real advice though: It doesn sound like you much of a car person, or really into cars all that much. Will the BMW really bring you enough joy to justify the expense? At 27 with that income you are in your absolute prime years for stashing cash away for retirement and building up savings for a down payment on a house. Get a 2014 economy car for 10 15k that will last you another 10 years while saving like crazy.

I would have hoped would obvious by now why I am focusing on this. Because this is the dt and this is a topic that I find somewhat interesting and thought would make a descent discussion here. Would you drive such a showy car? If it was what I wanted and could afford, sure. Currently I drive a 07 VW New Beetle. Its my dream car. DH (dear husband) offered to let me trade it in for something “better” and I refuse. I love that thing, it works great, and my kid, carseat, gear and groceries all fit quite nicely. Not to mention its paid off. I would rather spend my money on clothes, shoes and bags then a “better” car though. Although I am sure people would find that pretentious. If one is constantly filling with a lot of water there most certainly may be a leak. The proper way to check the system is a knowledgeable person with a pressure tester. The system is pressurized and then leaks can be sought. Some common ones are the hoses best checked first. A next best look is at the water pump seal. Freeze plugs are more of rarity today, yet can be considered. A good look about is needed overall.
