That random fact should give some comfort to those readers who have a fear of elevators descending faster than the speed of an ex pat on the autobahn.

Hardware Make sure the glides are of a good quality and are soft close (a standard these days). Ask your retailer how they handle requests for broken glides and hardware a year or years down the road. As for hinges, are they self closing? Are they of good quality? The hinge on your door actuates a lot in the course of its life, and you do not want to be constantly adjusting the hinges or replacing them.
I gotten lenses from eBay, KEH and local pawnshops and have had good luck. KEH is probably the most painless everything I gotten from them has been better than expected. eBay is a bit of a crapshoot since it more or less impossible to evaluate a lens based on a few pics you gotta dig through a ton of feedback and at some point, just hope for the best. At least at the pawnshop you can put your hands on the lens and test it out but selection is limited.
Interiors are highly subjective, but to me the M235/240 feels two price classes lower than the C. All the plastics are cheap and little effort was put into presentation. It has a great driving position and a surprising amount of room, though. The Benz is a luxury car through and through. You can find cheap trim bits here and there, but the overall attention to detail and use of colors/textures/materials can shame some cars near the 6 figure mark.
1 is honestly going to be a tough one. There were comments on the LA Times article to the effect of “he wasn winning prize money, so why does anyone care?” People who don competitively do amateur endurance sports really have no idea how much it does matter to those of us who do them.
But, here the thing. You could buy a BMW M3, Fiesta ST, Focus ST, VW GTI, Golf R, Civic Si, Civic Type R, WRX, STi, used Lancer Evo, etc. and it would STILL meet your needs. A 4 door GTI isn harder to park than a 2 door GTI. It will probably work BETTER when you want to carry dogs, groceries/errands, and other “utilitarian and not overkill” situations.

That puts my payment around $200 bucks a month. i currently pay 130 a month for insurance and this would go up to about 200 a month if i got the BMW. So i would go from $350 monthly vehicle expense to about 500. To me it is worth the extra 150 a month.
You put off running an errand just so you can run it in the i3 instead of the old gas car. I got a supercharged jag in my garage that gathers dust, because frankly, I rather be driving the i3. For full disclosure, I had a Coccoro for DD. Loved the seat, and DD (dear daughter) outgrew it RF (rear facing) at 35″ and 26 27 lbs. My guess is that add around $200/month on average. If you are okay spending an additional portion of your disposable income on a car instead of other things like vacations, dining out, etc, then go for it.
